Baking Pies with Friends (Recipe Included)


Spent the night before Thanksgiving baking pies with friends. 





Pie Crust Recipe:
Ingredients needed for one pie crust:

1 1/4 cups of flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup of lard
3 tablespoons cold water


1) Combine the listed ingredients above in a medium sized bowl and mix with hands. *Preheat oven to 420 degree.



            2) Roll dough into a ball and chill for about 20 minutes.
We decided to triple the above recipe crust recipe to make 3 pies. 
               3) After the dough has set in the refrigerator, you can start to roll out the dough.                           As you roll make sure to add flour and flip dough periodically.


            4) Place onto glass pie plate. Make sure the dough is pressed against the edges. Lastly, crimp the dough by placing outside finger against the dough and have two fingers press around outside finger. 





Pumpkin Pie filling:
Ingredients needed for one pie filling:

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 large eggs
1 can 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 can Evaporated Milk


1) Combine the ingredients listed above and mix with a whisk. 

This is double the recipe, so your bowl will be less full than mine.



2) Fill pie crust with the filling.
3) Bake at 420 degrees for 15 minutes and then lower temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for 45 minutes. 



Simple Apple Pie Recipe:


Follow pie crust recipe above and when finished add your preferred Apple Pie Filling to crust and bake at 420 degrees for 15 minutes. Then lower temperature to 350 and finish baking for 45 minutes.
